Gathering the Soul in the Wilderness

Gathering the Soul … in the Wilderness, 2016

Blacktail Ranch, Wolf Creek, Montana

July 10–16, 2016

You are invited to join me in exploring inner and outer wilderness at the beautiful Blacktail Ranch in Wolf Creek, Montana!

For seven days and six nights, including arrival and departure days, we will enjoy the wide-open spaces of Big Sky Country on an 8,000 acre ranch at the foot of the Continental Divide and adjoining the Helena National Forest, the largest piece of roadless area in the lower 48. Leaving our “civilized” world behind, we will awaken to our own wildness as we connect deeply with nature, horses, and ourselves.

Our time together will include Meditation, Jungian and Robert Moss-based Dreamwork, Journaling and Shamanic Journeying, Ceremony, and Horse as Mirror. Your relationship with your assigned horse will serve, like the wilderness itself, as a mirror to your own psyche. It will be an important focus for learning as well as pleasure.

Gatherings will be held in a lovely, peaceful Hogan or cabin, as well as outdoors. During the week we will have ample opportunity to ride: two rides in the hills surrounding the lodge; an all-day ride to the ranch camp (The Hideaway), nestled in a serene meadow ringed by old growth forest, and a ride on our last afternoon to an ancient, sacred Native American cave to experience the transformative power of ceremony and song and a shamanic journey for each person to find her sacred gift.

In this breathtaking wilderness setting we may be awed by a fox running across a meadow, a bear feeding on a hillside, an eagle soaring overhead. We may hear a coyote or wolf howling in the evening sunset as we gather around the fire pit. If we are really fortunate, as the group was in 2013, we might even see a wolverine – a truly rare occurrence!
